Prominent entrepreneur Elon Musk has issued a stark warning about the escalating national debt in the United States, cautioning that the American dollar could become valueless if the issue is not addressed.

"We need to do something about our national debt or the dollar will be worth nothing," Musk expressed via Twitter.

The national debt of the United States currently exceeds $34 trillion, as reported by fiscaldata.treasury.gov. In response to Musk's warning, Ed Krassenstein, a commentator, noted the reluctance of administrations to confront the issue, stating, "The problem is that no administration wants to take on the National Debt issue because the longterm fix is likely a short term detriment to the economy."

Musk responded to this sentiment, asserting, "Well, something's gotta give. We should at least slow down the debt growth."

Echoing Musk's concerns, Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has previously identified the national debt as the "greatest threat" to the nation's security. He warned, "we are threatening the very existence of our currency, and perhaps our country, by this crazy profligate spending."

In a joint opinion piece published on The Hill, Republican Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, GOP Representative Bill Huizenga of Michigan, and Democratic Representative Scott Peters of California collectively stated, "The national debt is the greatest threat our country faces — and we are rapidly approaching the crisis point. It is time for Congress to put the interests of the country ahead of political expediency and get us on sound fiscal footing before it is too late."

Similarly, Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming has also voiced her belief that "our debt is the greatest threat our country faces today."
