A tragic incident unfolded near the California-Nevada border over the weekend as a tech entrepreneur and his wife lost their lives in a plane crash during a snowstorm.

The fatal crash involved a TBM single-engine aircraft that went down in California while making its final approach to Truckee Tahoe Airport, as detailed in the initial report released by Truckee Tahoe Airport officials. The aircraft was carrying at least two individuals at the time of the accident.

Confirming the devastating outcome, Truckee Tahoe Airport issued a statement saying, “There are two known fatalities. It is not known yet how many people were onboard.” The response to the crash involved personnel from Truckee Police, Truckee Fire, Nevada County Sheriff, Nevada County Coroner, and Truckee Tahoe Airport.

The victims have been identified as Liron and Naomi Petrushka, a couple who had been residents of California for several years, according to reports from Israeli news sources. The Petrushkas, who leave behind four children, had strong ties to soccer, with Liron having a history of playing for the Hapoel Ramat Gan Givatayim team and their son Jordan representing Israel in junior soccer competitions.

Expressing condolences, team chairman Einav Hazenvald remarked, “The club bows its head for the death of Liron Petrushka and his wife.” Hazenvald fondly recalled Liron's contributions to the team, highlighting his journey from youth to adult teams and their shared successes on the field.

Local resident Susan Bower recounted the harrowing moments before the crash, telling KCRA, “I heard this airplane but very close right over the house and I was like, ‘Gosh that sounds awfully close.’” Bower added, “Seconds later, I could hear a big thud. I knew it went down.”
