A recent incident at Salt Lake City International Airport has raised concerns over security protocols after a man allegedly managed to board a plane without a ticket.

Wicliff Fleurizard reportedly concealed himself in the aircraft's bathroom during a fully occupied Delta flight, as per 2KUTV.

Surveillance footage revealed Fleurizard taking photos of passengers' boarding passes before surreptitiously joining Flight 1683. Upon exiting the bathroom, flight attendants noted the lack of available seats, prompting suspicion. Fleurizard lacked a valid ticket or reservation for this or any other Delta flight.

Following the flight's return to the gate, law enforcement apprehended Fleurizard, who was subsequently taken into custody at Salt Lake County Jail. Despite not possessing a valid ticket for the Austin-bound flight, Fleurizard had a Southwest Airlines ticket, per a criminal complaint cited by 2KUTV.

Reportedly utilizing a "buddy pass" from Southwest Airlines to navigate security, Fleurizard cited familial obligations in Texas as reason for his actions. Former TSA administrator John Pistole acknowledged the partial success of the airport's safety measures in this instance, noting, "The system worked in the terms of the outcome, but not in terms of how it’s designed to prevent people from boarding a plane without their own boarding pass," as reported by CBS News.
