In a recent interview with USA Today, Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) issued a stern warning to those contemplating not voting in the upcoming November elections.

He cautioned that the potential "tragedy" of a second term for former President Trump would be a burden they would have to bear.

Fetterman, currently serving his first term, expressed his lack of concern over threats from progressives to abstain from the general election. This is due to dissatisfaction with the United States' handling of the Gaza conflict. "Go ahead. And then when you get the second term of Trump, you've got to own that tragedy," Fetterman stated. His unwavering support for Israel, mirroring that of President Biden, has led to a loss of support within his own party.

Despite this, Fetterman remains confident that voters will rally behind Biden once they grasp the reality of a potential second Trump presidency. "I trust in democracy. If they — voters — turn their backside to the stove, that fire is going to burn," he said. "It's really that kind of a choice right now."

Fetterman's remarks follow calls from progressive groups for voters in several states' presidential primaries to vote "uncommitted." This is seen as a strategy to exert political pressure on the Biden Administration to reassess its stance on the Gaza war.

USA Today reports that over 60,000 Pennsylvania voters opted for the write-in choice during the April primary. Pennsylvania, a swing state that Biden won in 2020, will be under close scrutiny in the upcoming Biden-Trump rematch. Despite a lower than average turnout in the primary, Fetterman is optimistic that voters will turn out in support of Biden.

"I do believe that American people will be presented with that incredibly stark choice" in the election, he said, "and I think they're going to make the right choice."

Fetterman has faced criticism from his voter base, with some arguing that his response to the war is not reflective of the candidate they elected. However, he remains steadfast in his support for Israel and his commitment to aiding Biden's reelection campaign.
