The Israeli military announced on Sunday a reduction in its ground troops stationed in the southern Gaza Strip, marking the conclusion of an extensive operation in Khan Younis.

The IDF disclosed that its 98th commando division is being withdrawn "to recuperate and prepare for future operations."

According to NBC News, the IDF clarified that the Nahal brigade and the 162nd division will remain in Gaza, constituting a formidable force aimed at sustaining operations in the region. This presence is crucial for maintaining the IDF's operational flexibility and capacity for precise intelligence-based missions.

The Nahal Brigade's primary focus lies in securing the Netzarim Corridor, a strategic route running from the Be’eri area in southern Israel to the coast of the Gaza Strip. The Times of Israel highlights the corridor's significance, facilitating IDF raids in northern and central Gaza, controlling Palestinian movement in the northern region, and enabling direct humanitarian aid deliveries.
