In a recent episode of his talk show, liberal host Jimmy Kimmel shared his observations on the stark contrast between the cleanliness of Japan and the United States, humorously suggesting that the Japanese might equate Americans with trash.

The issue of American cities grappling with homelessness, deteriorating infrastructure, and crime is a frequent topic in U.S. politics. However, Kimmel's monologue on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Monday revealed how a recent trip to Japan dramatically altered his perception of what a modern society could be.

"We know we have our faults here in America. We acknowledge areas that need improvement. But, on the whole, I believe most of us think that, compared to the rest of the world, we're pretty well-organized. I certainly did," he confessed. "I visit Europe, where there are pits in place of plumbing, and I hold my breath, relieved that I'm not one of them, before returning home."

However, his recent journey to Japan led to a significant shift in his perspective.

"But now, after my trip to Japan, I've come to realize that our USA, the one we're always cheering for, is a filthy and repugnant place. We spent seven days in Japan. I didn't come across a single unclean restroom. The bathrooms in Tokyo and Kyoto are more sanitary than our surgical rooms here," he noted. "Everywhere you go, the restrooms are clean. They don't have a foul odor, and they have those toilets that cleanse you internally."

Kimmel pointed out that this cleanliness extends beyond hotels to "restaurants, bars, even truck stops! We visited two truck stops — I swear — the bathrooms were cleaner than Jennifer Garner's teeth."

He also observed that the streets in Japan are remarkably cleaner than those in American cities.

"There's no litter. People take responsibility for their own trash. There are no garbage bins in Tokyo," he explained. "Three decades ago, terrorists placed a toxic gas in some trash cans. The response was, ‘Alright, no more trash cans. Everyone clean up after yourselves.’ And guess what? They do. They take their trash home."

Kimmel then drew a comparison between Japan and America, likening them to two well-known amusement parks.

"It's as if the entire country is Disneyland, and we're residing in Six Flags," he quipped. "I've been back home for 36 hours. I've never felt filthier. We are like swine compared to the Japanese. I shudder to think what their impression of us must be. ‘Ah, the trash people! Yes, the Americans, trash, indeed!’"
