Jason Maser, a 22-year-old volleyball coach from New York, tragically ended his life by stepping in front of a train, mere hours after his initial court appearance for alleged child sex crimes, police reports confirm.

Maser had been coaching at Sacred Heart Academy, an all-girls Catholic institution in Hempstead, New York, and B&B Volleyball, a club team based in Long Island. The alleged victim was a player on both teams.

Following the rape allegations, Maser was dismissed from both Sacred Heart Academy and B&B Volleyball. As reported by the New York Daily News, B&B Volleyball communicated to parents that they had become aware of an "inappropriate sexual relationship between an adult who coached for B&B Volleyball and one of our players." Sacred Heart officials promptly contacted authorities upon learning of the accusations.

Maser was apprehended at his Syosset residence by Special Victims Squad officers last Thursday. The criminal complaint against him included two counts of third-degree rape, two counts of criminal sex act, and endangering the welfare of a child. The police allege that Maser raped a 15-year-old girl at least twice in his Jeep in Albertson on February 7 and March 7.

Maser made his first court appearance in Hempstead on Friday afternoon, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. After posting a $75,000 bail, he was released. Judge Marie F. McCormack issued an order for Maser to avoid contact with the alleged victim.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority informed 1010 WINS that Maser "intentionally" stepped in front of Long Island Rail Road train #1573 at the Woodbury Road crossing in Syosset around 10:35 p.m. on Friday. Maser was pronounced dead at the scene by MTA police, and his body was later identified by the Nassau County Police Department.
