The ongoing search for Riley Strain, a senior at the University of Missouri who vanished earlier this month, took a grim turn when his bank card was discovered near the Cumberland River, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The department made the announcement on X, a social media platform previously known as Twitter, stating that the card was found on the embankment between Gay Street and the Cumberland River.

The police department's post read, "Riley Strain's bank card was discovered this afternoon on the embankment between Gay St. and the Cumberland River. The search for him continues." This discovery comes amidst reports of a body seen floating down the Cumberland River around 1 p.m. on Sunday. However, Nashville Fire Department officials, as reported by Fox 17, have confirmed that the body does not match Strain's description.

Strain, who was visiting Nashville with his fraternity brothers for a spring formal trip, was last seen on March 8 around 10 p.m. walking along Gay Street. According to his family and the Metro Nashville Police Department, he had been at Luke Bryan's bar on Broadway Street prior to his disappearance.

Fox 17 Nashville reports that Strain was asked to leave the bar on the evening of March 8 due to concerns about his level of intoxication. He assured his friends that he would make his way back to their hotel, Tempo by Hilton, located approximately five blocks from Luke's 32 Bridge.

The TC Restaurant Group, which manages Luke's 32 Bridge, issued a statement to Fox News Digital. They confirmed their cooperation with the police investigation, providing detailed accounts of Strain's time at their establishment. The group stated, "During Riley’s visit to Luke’s 32 Bridge, our records show he purchased and was served one alcoholic drink and two waters... He was followed down the stairs with one member of his party. The individual with Riley did not exit and returned upstairs."

According to Fox 17, Strain's phone last pinged between 10 and 10:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Public Square Park, near the sheriff's office and the Cumberland River. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Strain's disappearance to contact 615-862-8600.
