In a recent development, a hiker in Wales stumbled upon a peculiar sight - a monolith bearing a striking resemblance to a "UFO," perched atop a hillside along the Welsh-English border.

The hiker, Craig Muir, documented the unusual find on Tuesday during his hike near Hay-on-Wye, as reported by Storyful.

Muir, a regular visitor to the area, expressed his surprise in the video, stating, "I come up here most days and I've never seen this before." He further described the object as something that "almost looks like a UFO." The footage showcases the reflective monolith standing tall against the wind.

Speaking to the Press Association, Muir shared his initial reaction, "When I first saw it, I was a bit taken aback as it looked like some sort of a UFO." He noted the monolith's precise placement, stating, "It didn't seem like it was chucked in there, instead it has been accurately put in the ground." However, he found the absence of any surrounding tracks or mess peculiar.

This discovery joins a series of similar finds across the globe, including the U.S., Belgium, Romania, and the Isle of Wight in the English Channel. In November 2020, Utah state wildlife employees discovered a monolith, estimated to be between 10 and 12 feet high, while counting sheep from a helicopter.

Bret Hutchings, the helicopter pilot, described the object as "about the strangest thing that I’ve come across out there in all my years of flying," as reported by Salt Lake City's KSL-TV. The Utah Department of Public Safety, in a press release, stated that the monolith was installed in a remote area with "no obvious indication" of the installer's identity.

Another monolith surfaced a week later in Atascadero, California, north of Los Angeles. The individuals responsible for these monoliths remain unknown, although a New Mexico artist collective claimed responsibility years ago.

Tom Dunford, who found a monolith on the Isle of Wight in 2020, told Sky News, "The person who put it there knows what they're doing. It's really reflective. It's someone playing a practical joke, I don't believe in any of these conspiracy theories."
