At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held on Saturday, Argentina's President Javier Milei, affectionately known as "The Lion," had an enthusiastic encounter with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The meeting, which took place backstage before Trump's address to the conservative gathering, was marked by Milei's palpable excitement and energy.

Upon meeting Trump, Milei expressed his delight, saying, "President! I’m very happy to meet you. You are very generous to me." Trump, in response, commended Milei's efforts, stating, "You’re doing a great job. MAGA! Make Argentina Great Again! Come on, let’s have some pictures."

The Buenos Aires Times later published a balanced and positive piece about Milei's appearance at CPAC. The article highlighted the meeting between Milei, 53, and Trump, 77, both known for their distinctive hair, fiery rhetoric, and rejection of traditional political norms. The brief but emotional encounter was captured on film and shared on social media by Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni.

During his address to the conference, Trump praised Milei, stating, "He is one of the few who can make Argentina great again." Trump also thanked Milei for his presence, referring to him as a "great gentleman" and a proponent of the 'Make Argentina Great Again' movement.

In his subsequent speech, Milei echoed Trump's campaign slogan, vowing that his government "will not give up on making Argentina great again." Since assuming office in December, Milei has implemented significant cuts to government spending in an effort to stimulate economic growth in Argentina.

However, Milei's austerity measures have been met with resistance, both on the streets and in Congress. With inflation rates soaring to 254 percent per annum, more than half of Argentina's population is currently living in poverty. Soup kitchens are increasingly demanding food aid to support the impoverished.

In his CPAC address, Milei attributed Argentina's economic decline to socialism and pledged to do everything in his power to end the crisis. He criticized the "corrupt caste" of politicians, businessmen, and media outlets that prioritize their own interests over the welfare of Argentines.

Milei also took aim at trade unionists and professionals who, in his view, exploit the state for their own benefit. Despite the challenges, Milei remained resolute in his commitment to improving Argentina's fortunes. "They will become aware of the great fight we are putting up, but we are not going to give up on making Argentina great again," he declared, earning applause from the audience.
