Virginia’s voter registration system went down on Tuesday, the last day to register to vote in the state.

Voters

The statewide voter registration system is currently DOWN. This means that any voter coming to vote early in-person can not be checked in on the poll books & will only be able to vote a provisional ballot.

We will let you know when the system is back up & running.

Virginia’s Department of Elections said they were alerted after a fiber cut near the Commonwealth Enterprise Solutions Center was impacting data circuits and VPN connectivity for multiple agencies.

“This has affected the citizen portal along with registrar’s offices.”

Technicians are on site and working to repair; updates will be provided as work progresses.

Virginia’s Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax (D) called for the voter registration deadline to be extended.

I am officially calling for Virginia’s Registration Deadline to be extended beyond today due to the service outages impacting voters’ ability to register statewide.

We will work with the Administration to resolve this issue and ensure all voters have access to #Vote. https://t.co/PKt3vKoOnu
